DOES LASER HAIR REDUCTION PERMANENTLY REMOVE HAIR?
The answer to this question is yes and no. Yes, it’s true that laser hair removal permanently kills the hair follicles it’s successfully treated. But this does not mean all hair follicles in the treated area were treated. In fact, there’s certain types of hair and some follicles that any laser hair removal device can’t destroy permanently.
Anyone who tells you laser hair reduction eliminates all hair simply isn’t telling you the truth!
In actuality, laser hair removal is better called permanent hair reduction. A successful treatment series eliminates 80 to 90% of unwanted hair, and most people won’t have to return for another 6 to 12 months.
The laser beams produced by the laser hair reduction device target melanin, a dark pigment. Certain hair, like “peach fuzz” is transparent and contains no melanin. These hairs go undetected by the laser and thus cannot be removed this way.
The good news is that this transparent hair is hardly noticeable, doesn’t often get ingrown, and can easily be treated by shaving, waxing, or electrolysis!
