Get smoother, clearer skin... fast
If you’re becoming unhappy with dull, rough, or aging skin, but you aren’t ready to commit to a more invasive cosmetic procedure to address it, dermaplaning in The Woodlands at Medical Aesthetics & Laser could be the treatment you need. Dermaplaning involves grazing the face with a surgical-grade scalpel, shaving away the topmost layer of dead skin and fine facial hairs (AKA “peach fuzz”) while triggering your skin’s natural healing process.
Following dermaplaning treatments, our patients notice a reduction in fine lines, visible acne scars, and dark spots and they have a much smoother, softer complexion. Additionally, it can help makeup go on the face smoother and allows skincare products to more readily penetrate the skin.

How it Works
The core concept at the heart of dermaplaning is shaving. We aim a sterile scalpel at a 45-degree angle and drag it slowly across the skin to remove all the dead skin cells, hair, scar tissue, and other debris that is congesting your complexion and not allowing your skin to shine bright.
Dermaplaning in The Woodlands aims to eliminate the pollution buildup and vellus hairs in order to clear the way for youthful, fresh skin to come to the surface.
For a deeper exfoliation, we offer SkinCeuticals Micropeel that combines dermaplaning with a customized chemical peel and cryogenic therapy to calm inflamed skin. The chemical peel generates healthy skin growth resulting in improvement of hyper-pigmentation, fine lines and wrinkles and skin impurities.
Instructions
Before your dermaplaning in The Woodlands, we ask that you:
- Watch for active acne flare-ups and reschedule your appointment if you get any. Dermaplaning on top of active acne can cause further irritation and risks scarring.
- Avoid direct sun exposure in the week leading up to your treatment.

Post-dermaplaning instructions:
- There are no post-treatment instructions! Feel free to come see us for this treatment on your lunch break and go back to your regular activities right after.

I have been going to Kalya at Medical Aesthetics and Laser for about 2 years. Kalya is extremely complete and thorough in delivering not only excellent customer service but in her knowledge of the skin and what treatments are needed to get results for a beautiful and younger appearance. Medical Aesthetics and Laser rocks. I would never go anywhere else.

I have been a client of Medical Aesthetics and Laser for the last few years. Prior to this, I tried several other clinics and doctor’s offices (including a couple of top plastic surgeons in Houston & The Woodlands) for Botox and facial treatments, but nothing can compare to results I have obtained with Allison and Kelli. I consider Allison to be both an expert and an artist in the way that she administers Botox and Dermal Fillers. She gives me a youthful appearance without causing me to look unnatural or contrived. I have used Kelli for laser resurfacing, chemical peels, and facials. Since adhering to her skin care regimen, my skin has never been as clear and healthy as it is now. I feel confident in recommending Medical Aesthetics and Laser to anyone who has the desire to improve their appearance, and gain confidence in the image that they project to others.

The short answer? No. Dermaplaning can actually make your face look and feel worse if you have active acne. Consider coming to us for acne treatments before returning for dermaplaning in The Woodlands.
Yes! We like pairing dermaplaning with other facial treatments, like chemical peels that use alpha-hydroxy acids (AHAs) and HydraFacials.
You should see a noticeable change in your skin’s texture and tone right away, but it may take more than one treatment to get the full results you’re after. We find that the best results of dermaplaning occur after a series of six treatments.
When paired with a healthy skincare routine, you should get about a month of extra softness and glow out of your dermaplaning treatments. As the top layers of cells die off, you will notice some dullness return and should schedule another appointment at our office.
While you can purchase dermaplaning tools yourself, there are some risks associated with at-home dermaplaning – not to mention you likely won’t get the results you’re after. The risk of infection and complications goes up significantly when performing this treatment on yourself in a unsterile environment – trust an experienced, licensed aesthetician at Medical Aesthetics & Laser instead.
This is a common – and false – misconception about shaving. All evidence points to the fact that hair grows back at a normal rate and will not change in any way following dermaplaning treatments.
Treatment costs can vary depending on your unique needs. Your Medical Aesthetics & Laser specialist will provide you with the exact cost of your dermaplaning procedure up front in your initial consultation. We can accept CareCredit to cover the cost of your treatment.
