How it Works
When you come to Medical Aesthetics & Laser for your Halo laser in The Woodlands, we maximize your comfort by first applying a topical anesthetic before we begin the procedure. We then measure the treatment area with motion tracking technology to ensure we are treating your skin evenly. Once you are numb, we will roll the Halo handpiece uniformly over the skin until the treatment is complete. Skin will first be red and swollen for several days, followed by an intense peeling time, which will then slough away to reveal gorgeous new skin. Consider coming to us for a HydraFacial during the final peeling stages for an even more effective treatment!
This unique laser treatment works by combining the best of both (laser) worlds: one non-ablative wavelength that targets the top layer of skin and an ablative wavelength that goes deeper into the skin to repair visible signs of aging, sun damage, enlarged pores, and even skin tone while also stimulating collagen production. The fractional laser technology also allows us to minimize downtime from your Halo treatment by breaking the laser into many tiny beams, leaving some skin intact in the treatment area to aid in faster healing.
Pre-Treatment Instructions for Halo laser in The Woodlands
In the time leading up to your Halo laser treatment with Medical Aesthetics & Laser in the Woodlands, we suggest:
- Avoid dermal filler injections for 1-2 months before and after your Halo procedure.
- Avoid waxing, facials, hair removal (threading, electrolysis, etc.), extensive sun exposure, or any other laser treatments to the treatment area at least a week prior to your procedure.
- Stop using topical skin treatments (with the exception of a gentle cleanser, moisturizer, and sunscreen) three days before the treatment.
- Discuss aspirin or other blood thinning medication you are taking during your consultation with your Halo specialist at Medical Aesthetics & Laser.
Post-Treatment Care for Halo laser in The Woodlands
Following your Halo treatment, your skin will be red and swollen. This is expected and should subside after several days. Important post-treatment care to expect includes:
- Sleep with the head elevated to minimize swelling.
- Use cool water compresses to reduce swelling.
- Avoid strenuous exercise and sweating until skin has healed.
- Do not use any cleansing devices or brushes (i.e. Clarisonic) or exfoliating scrubs or other topical products for at least 10 days following your treatment.
- Avoid any UV exposure for 24 hours and use sunscreen religiously starting the day after treatment.
Medical Aesthetics and Laser is wonderful. Since they are associated with a physician’s office they have a fantastic array of product and service choices. Kelli's knowledge and professionalism is unsurpassed. The office staff is welcoming and courteous- always giving each client the time that is needed.
Recently, at my annual appointment with the dermatologist, I was so very impressed and pleased. The Dr. commented on how great I was taking care of my skin. He had no idea that Allison and Kelli were taking care of my skin; I was just following their instructions with the regime they had advised! There are no professionals, or places, that I could more highly recommend than Allison and Kelli at Medical Aesthetics and Laser. My intent here is to pay it forward, just as my friend did, by her recommendation of Allison to me.
The beauty of the Halo laser lies in how uniquely customizable it is. Your Halo specialist will consult with you and discuss your skin type, goals, and how much downtime you are able to handle. We will then come up with a treatment plan that most effectively addresses your concerns. Some patients opt for one or two more aggressive treatments with longer recovery time, while others achieve their goals over a longer period of time with multiple, less aggressive treatments.
Thanks to the topical anesthetic and the Halo device’s integrated cooling technology, most patients report little discomfort. The feeling is described as warm, with prickling and popping sensations.
Since Halo combines two laser wavelengths, results from the treatment are seen in two waves. First, you’ll see a dramatic improvement in pigmentation in two or three weeks following your Halo treatment. Then, a dermal regeneration phase begins that brings improvements in the skin and pores for months after the treatment.
With consistent sun protection and skincare practices, the results of your Halo laser in The Woodlands can last for years. If you want to further improve your results, we recommend following up with another Halo treatment 12-24 months after your initial Halo. This will sustain your results and keep your skin glowing and healthy.
Treatment costs can vary depending on your unique needs. Your Medical Aesthetics & Laser specialist will provide you with the exact cost of your Halo laser procedure up front in your initial consultation. We can also accept CareCredit to cover the cost of your treatment.
